ABOUT OUR SPEAKER - hon. sheree davis cunningham
Judge Sheree Davis Cunningham made history in 1993 as the first African American woman appointed to the Palm Beach County Court bench by Governor Lawton Chiles. For 26 years, she served with dedication, upholding fairness and the rule of law. A Rutgers and Howard University Law graduate, she began her career as a prosecutor before rising through the ranks in Palm Beach County’s Major Crimes Unit.
Judge Cunningham’s appointment was pivotal, diversifying the bench and mentoring countless African American lawyers. She presided over Domestic Violence Court, impacting the lives of many vulnerable victims, and earned numerous accolades for her community service and commitment to justice.
A devout Christian and proud mother of three, she is deeply involved in her church and several professional organizations. Judge Cunningham retired in 2019, leaving behind a lasting legacy of integrity, compassion, and fairness in Palm Beach County’s legal community.
